Hotspot, AirDrop, Wi-Fi: quick fixes I reach for
- AirDrop stuck? Toggle Bluetooth off/on on both devices; unlock both; keep them on the same Wi-Fi for big files.
- Hotspot flaky on a laptop? Turn off “Maximize Compatibility” only if the laptop refuses modern modes. Keep the phone name short (ASCII).
- Crowded venues: forget legacy SSIDs; reduce autoconnect clutter.
Travel & eSIM tips (so you’re never unreachable)
- Keep primary line for voice/SMS; use a travel eSIM for data.
- Set Cellular Data → travel eSIM and Default Voice → primary to avoid missing OTPs.
- Save the travel eSIM QR/activation code in Files before you fly.
Accessories that pass the abuse test
- Slim bumper (especially for the thin model) for grip without ruining the feel.
- Tempered glass with clean edges (less rainbowing in sun).
- MagSafe stand for desk calls; vent-mount MagSafe in the car.

- “Battery is terrible!” on day 1–2 → Spotlight/Photos are indexing. Leave it on Wi-Fi and power overnight.
- Focus hunts indoors → tap-hold to lock AF/AE; nudge exposure down; avoid mixed lighting.
- Overheating while filming → move to shade, drop to 4K/30, give the phone airflow.
- Storage filling up → enable “Optimize iPhone Storage” for Photos, offload unused apps.
